New: organic ginger from Europe!

Organic ginger can no longer be left off the shelves. Most ginger available in Europe comes from far away: from Peru and China. Eosta is now working, together with two experienced partners, on a new project: growing organic ginger in Central Europe. The project, now in its second year, focuses on the feasibility of ginger cultivation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Organic ginger is gaining ground

Fresh ginger tea has firmly established itself in the diets of European consumers, and with good reason: ginger is not only healthy, but also adds a unique, spicy flavour to drinks and dishes. Not only to tea, but also to lemonades, soup and Asian dishes. As ginger is often used freshly cut, the choice of an organic, unsprayed variety is quickly made.

A boost for small-scale farmers in Bosnia

Rural Bosnia faces significant economic challenges. Organic ginger cultivation here can play an important role in raising the incomes of small-scale farmers. This year, organic seed stock has been imported from China for testing in tunnels. In late October, we expect the first harvest of fresh organic "baby ginger."

Collaboration for success

Together with its partners, Eosta is determined to make this project a success. We form a strong team, where knowledge and energy come together to make this challenging project successful and organic ginger available closer to home.

Future plans and scaling up

In the coming years, we will explore how to scale up the project and also start preserving ginger so that we can offer this organic ginger for a longer period of time.
